There were seventeen walkers at the starting point at Churston Manor. One rambler only accompanied the group to the gates of Lupton House, but she was there, and she will be back. The others followed Mandy through the estate grounds, which looked green and glorious on this perfect June evening, then up the hill to the Dartmouth Road. From there we walked across fields, and along green lanes to Galmpton, where we admired the scarecrows decorating the village. The blue plaque dedicated to Robert Graves was looking similarly dishevelled, covered in ivy, and in need of refurbishment. From the village we returned to the Churston Manor Hotel, meeting up with the reluctant absentee walker. It was all of five miles so we deserved our drink in this quirky and curious establishment. Thanks Mandy.
