Anne-Marie’s Galmpton to Totnes Walk – Saturday 8th September

Fifteen of us made an early start at the Manor Inn Galmpton for this 10 mile walk.

We took the cross country route via Galmpton Creek, noting the new water wheel that has been installed on the house adjacent to the creek. On crossing the Dart, we made our way through Dittisham picking ripe, juicy blackberries on the way. A short coffee stop was enjoyed at the head of one of the Dart’s creeks before passing through a field behind Mill House.

What a fabulously pretty place that is from the back! The trudge up the rocky canyon on the approach to Cornworthy was made worthwhile as it was followed by a relaxing lunch stop on the small village green. A quick detour was taken after lunch to view the Dart from the shoreline before reaching Tuckenhay, where some of us braved the stepping stones.

Afternoon tea in the pub in Ashprington was a well earned break which renewed our energy ready to finish the walk in Totnes.

Many of us were lucky enough to catch the open top bus in order to return to Paignton. What a super end to a great day out. Many thanks to all back markers.
