Roger B’s Daddyhole Plain to Cockington Ramble – Saturday 15th September

It was a warm sunny day, ideal for walking. Nine set off from Daddyhole Plain car park  for Roger B’s walk to Cockington.
The first part of the walk took us along Rock End Walk with splendid views across Torbay. Exiting at the Imperial Hotel we walked down to the harbour and met up with four more walkers bringing us up to 13 in all.
Crossing the lifting bridge, we walked along the promenade to Corbyn Head where we had a drinks break, then set off once again along the main road. We crossed into Cockington Lane, through the water Meadows and after skirting the water wheel we crossed the cricket pitch (what a wonderful setting for a match!). Here we had lunch in the sunshine and admired the beautiful horses leading the carriage on its jaunt back to the sea front.
After lunch we walked down by the lakes through the Water Meadows back to the main road.
To add a little variety to our return  Roger took us through Torre Abbey Gardens and over the high path back to the harbour before we reached Daddyhole.
A nice walk of about 5 miles in very pleasant conditions.
