Helen’s Bovey Walk – Saturday 20th October

There were 18 ramblers on Helen’s walk starting in Bovey Tracey, on a very warm and sunny day.  Helen welcomed all and thanked everybody for coming.  We then left the Station Car Park and proceeded over the main road firstly walking by the river and then going under Hole Bridge joining the path where the old railway line used to be.
We carried on until we reached the new walk way at the end of this beautiful wooded path stopping for coffee shortly before joining the road which goes on to Lustleigh.  The group then continued along this road as far as Knowle where we took a right turn up a track then making our way down on to Slade Cross.  We then crossed the busy A382 thereafter taking a right hand turn following the path which would take us into Shaptor Woods.   Lunch was taken before we got into the woods under some trees which offered  some amazing views.
After a short steep climb into Shaptor Woods we proceeded to take a left turn past Shaptor Rocks negotiating 4/5 stiles along the way.    We eventually joined the road which led us down into the infamous Trough Lane and then back into Bovey Tracey.   A walk of 6.5 miles as the crow flies,  enjoyed by all.
