Saturday 9 February 2019 – Rogers Ramble to Cockington

The walk started at Daddyhole Plain where 20 people turned up for Roger’s walk to Cockington and back. Following the coast path towards Torquay with fine views across the Bay we negotiated the steps until we reached the Imperial Hotel. Here we were joined by 3 more walkers after which we proceeded down to the harbour. Crossing the lift bridge we gained the seafront and followed this as far as the road over bridge before dropping down to the lower path to walk alongside the sea. At the end of the path we crossed the sand and climbed up to Corbyn Head where we had a drinks break. Afterwards we continued along the main road until we reached Cockington Lane. Here we turned right and walked through the water meadows and along the road to the centre of the village. Continuing along the road for a short distance we turned left just before the pub and followed the path to the cricket pitch which we crossed until we reached Cockington Court where we had lunch. After lunch we walked back via the lakes and followed the same route back to Daddyhole Plain. It had been a pleasant walk mostly in fine weather (we had one short sharp shower).conducted at a leisurely pace and led by Roger B.
