No fewer than thirty six people turned up for Maggie’s walk from Teignmouth railway station along the country by-ways to Dawlish and a return via the coast path, a distance of approximately 7 miles.
Starting at the station and walking to East cliff car park awe turned left, under the arch and up the path through the park to the top of the hill.
We crossed the Teignmouth/Dawlish road and continued up the hill opposite.
This road soon gave way to a track as it climbed the hill where, at the top we stopped for a drinks break. There are wonderful views across the fields to the sea beyond with glimpses of the coast between the trees.
.Eventually weaving our way through a housing estate, proceeded towards Dawlish before passing some nice houses we stopped in the park at the top of the hill for lunch.
After lunch we retraced our stops along the main road before turning left along the coast path towards Teignmouth. Dropping down Smugglers Lane we stopped at the Salty Dog cafe for a much needed drink and a free cookie! The final part of the walk was along the sea wall and back to our starting point.
Everyone agreed that it had been a lovely walk in perfect walking weather.
