The walk started at the end of Cockington Lane where it meets the sea front and 14 walkers took part.
The route followed the Torquay to Totnes trail which later became the John Musgrave Trail. Just before we started the sun came out and remained with us throughout the day making a very pleasant and warm day. Passing through the Water Meadows and climbing up to Occombe Farm through Scadson Woods we arrived at Marldon. Using the underpass we reached the path that used to be the old ring road which now is overgrown with grass and looks very narrow to our eyes being accustomed to the dual carriageway. Here we had a drinks break before turning left and following the path through the field to reach the village.
Walking down Love Lane and turning left we ascended Church Hill and along the road before turning left again to follow another path through the fields with open views across towards the radio masts. We then followed the well known route through Loventor and round to the road below Berry Pomeroy Castle. Entering the woods we picked our way along the path until reaching a field alongside Gatcombe Brook where we had lunch..Continuing along the route after lunch we followed the rough track all the way into Totnes.
A lovely 9 – 10 mile walk in beautiful weather through some lovely countryside.
