Paul’s Mansands Ramble – Saturday 3rd August

25 walkers gathered at Brixham bus station for the 7.5 mile circular walk to Mansands beach and Hillhead village.

We walked through Cowtown taking a farm track to connect with the path which slopes down to Mansands, where we had lunch on this beautiful isolated beach, overlooked by cottages build by Napoleonic prisoners of war.

Climbing the long path through the valley we were rewarded with views of the high valley hills and the freshwater lake, sadly very, very dry. At the summit of a long forest path, we walked through Hillhead village before taking another high path, descending into Brixham, rewarded with views of Torquay and Dartmoor over the rooftops of Brixham.
