Dartington to Staverton Circular – Saturday 16th November

It was a bright sunny day and 28 members arrived at The Cider Press centre for Howard’s 5½ mile circular walk to Staverton.

Taking the path alongside the flood plain and turning left at the road leading to Dartington Hall, quiet today as the road was closed to vehicles. Looking down at the River Dart on our right it was clear that the river was very full and that the usual path along the bank would be difficult so we continued along the road to Dartington Hall where we had a drinks break.

We continued along the road for about ½ mile before taking a path through the woods all the way to Staverton. Here we stopped for lunch, some of us sitting on the wall outside the mill while others wandered down the path alongside the railway.

After lunch we reconvened at the mill and followed the road back to Dartington. Taking the path opposite the T- junction, we eventually re-joined  the main road which we followed to the Cider Press centre, passing the church en route.

A well led walk on a lovely day through some beautiful countryside.
