Saturday 22 February 2020-Andrew’s Shaldon Walk

The forecast was not particularly good but after a little light drizzle right at the beginning of the walk we had a fine day with glimpses of the sun and some blue skies. Nine members turned up at Shaldon School for a 5 mile circular walk to Stokeinteignhead led by Andrew R. We set off alongside the river as far as Ringmore and followed the road for about a ½ mile before turning left up a steep track. Some way along this track we paused for a drinks break before continuing on and at the end we joined the road which led us downhill to Stokeinteignhead where we had an early lunch on the steps of the village church. After lunch some of us popped into the church for a brief look before setting off up the hill and through the farmyard to Commons Lane. Here we turned left and followed the road all the way back to Shaldon where we caught the bus home. Andrew was determined not to cancel the walk and did a number of reccys in order to put on his walk without having to wade through floods, and avoiding most of the mud, and in this respect he succeeded admirably. It was a very pleasant walk with beautiful views over the River Teign on what turned out to be a pleasant day.
