‘We can quantify some of the health benefits of Dartmoor to the local population through expenditure of physical activity. By calculating the modelled sum of distances walked by all visitors, we estimate that around 18 million kilometres are walked on Dartmoor each year. This translates into 129,000 kilograms of fat being burnt from recreational activities on Dartmoor; the equivalent of around 1.7 million cream teas.’
