Howard B’s Coffinswell Walk – Saturday 5th June

On Saturday 5th June,  Wanda and I led a walk which started with a group of 25 outside the Sloop at Kingskerswell and climbed over Kerswell Hill to Coffinswell via the northern path.
We then walked down through the village and then a short distance up Long Lane before turning left along Milber Lane. When we reached the sand quarry we turned left down the steep hill beside the quarry and then right along a path through the woods where we took a coffee break. After negotiating the stile at the other end of the woods we had to walk through Aller to reach the lower entrance to Milber Woods.
There is a small clearing with some felled tree trunks about halfway up through the woods where we stopped for lunch, after which we continued up through the woods and then back along Milber Lane to Coffinswell, before taking the southern path over Kerswell Hill back to the starting point. The weather was cloudy but warm and the only slight problem we had was negotiating some puddles at the Coffinswell end of both the paths over Kerswell HIll!
