13 walkers met at the Grand Hotel for Helen’s walk to Goodrington and return via Cockington.
We had a wonderful sunny day for this walk, but it was not too hot. We made our way to the main road (via the back streets of Chelston and Cockington), then we’ve cut through Hollicombe Park, walked alongside Preston Beach, Paignton Beach, past the pier and made our way towards Paignton Harbour, followed by the park and gardens at Roundham Head, before finally joining the path and steps which took us down to Goodrington Beach, where we had lunch.
We took the same route back until we reached Hollicombe Park where we crossed the main road and joined the path which took us into Old Paignton Road. We had a slight climb here and made our way to Manscombe Woods and then enjoyed the wonderful pathways in Cockington. We returned via the water meadows and Hennapyn Road to the end of the walk.
This was a walk with a lot of variety, enjoyed by all I hope. It was a bit longer than anticipated but I think it was well worth it.
Distance 8 miles.
