After a misty start, 16 walkers set off to take the coastpath from Torquay Harbour to Daddyhole Plain hoping for the mist to lift to reveal sunshine. At Daddyhole we were joined by 2 more walkers, before Meadfoot, then the promenade to Ilsham Valley and on towards Ansteys Cove.
We entered the woods and met up with two ladies, who had made contact previously, from The Onestep Walkers from Derbyshire, they were introduced to Rod our Chairman, providing a contact for a future walking holiday perhaps.
Carrying on to Walls Hill and Babbacombe Downs, we stopped for lunch. However, the mist decided to return here and 3 left us at this point. The rest retraced the route back to Ansteys Cove and joined The Bishop’s Walk.
Yes we did manage to find one of the remaining Bishop’s Prayers (GOD is LOVE), from there we ascended to Thatcher Avenue, admiring the plush properties with their extensive views towards Thatcher Rock.
Ilsham Valley next, then up into the woods to head back to the rear of The Osborne Hotel, a very impressive building. From here we took the back roads passing The Little Theatre, noting that one show has been cancelled due to Covid, a reminder of the times we are in. On to St John’s Woods before returning to Torquay Harbour where we finished our walk at just after 3pm, in time to enjoy a large coffee. Another enjoyable Day.
